Traffic Report for week of November 23,2008

Las Cruces Projects

17th Street
       From Amador Avenue to Picacho Drive will have shoulder work with two-lane/two-way traffic in effect. Access to businesses will be maintained. Motorists should seek alternate routes if available.

Campo Street
       From the Spruce Avenue to Hadley Avenue will have lane closures and a left merge for south bound traffic. The four lane roadway will be detoured down to two lanes in this area. Access will be maintained. Motorists should seek alternate routes if available.

Compress Road
       Open to through traffic.

Hadley Avenue
       At Seventeenth will be closed to through traffic. Through traffic will be detoured at 14th Street, Valley, and Picacho Avenue. The road closure will be in place at the end of the work day taken down before working hours begin the next day. Access to businesses will be maintained. Motorists should seek alternate routes if available.

Idaho Avenue
       Open to through traffic.

Las Alturas Drive
       At Peter Herd will have lane closures. Access will be maintained. Motorists should seek alternate routes if available and should proceed with caution.

Laurel Street
       From Lester Avenue to Brook Circle will have lane closures for south bound traffic. Access will be maintained. Lane closure will be taken down at the end of the work day to keep both lanes open during non-working hours. Motorists should seek alternate routes if available and should proceed with caution.

Lohman Avenue
       Open to through traffic.

Stull Drive
       From Idaho Avenue to Magnolia Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Access to residents will be maintained. Motorists should seek alternate routes if available.

Solano Drive
       Open to through traffic.

University Avenue I-25
         The NMDOT and local Law Enforcement would like to remind motorist to use caution during peak hours as they travel south on I-25 and approach University Avenue. Traffic tends to back up at times and ask that you use caution, please plan your travel time appropriately.

White Sands Missile Range Notification
       For information regarding closures you may WSMR at 678-1178 or 678-2222 for updates. Alerts will be present on the digital message board off US-70 east bound within the Las Cruces area.

I-25 Socorro, NM Area
       The New Mexico Department of Transportation will be working on the bridge deck and joint replacement south of Socorro, NM on I-25 at mile post 147 to the 147.5. Wide loads will be restricted to 14 feet wide, with work commencing on the north end of I-25 and migrating to the south bound lanes. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a reduction in speed throughout this project, please use caution.

US-180 Silver City Area
       A.S. Horner, Contractor to the NMDOT continues work on various sections of this project with paving being conducted Speed limit is reduced to 25 MPH and speed is posted through the rest of the project as 35 MPH. Please remember that double fines are in affect through the work- zone site.

NM-169 Magdalena/Alamo Area
       The NMDOT will be working with Brasier Construction as they conduct a warm over lay as they rehabilitate the roadway from mile post 36 to 25 in both directions. A pilot car will assist with traffic control. There will be a lane drops through the project site with a reduction in speed to 35 MPH. Please use caution.

NM-478 Anthony, NM
       The New Mexico Department of Transportation has opened all lanes tied to the Roundabout. Motorist need to use caution while adjusting to the movement of traffic within the Roundabout. There will be delays as work continues within the project. Speed limit posted for areas under constructed at 25 MPH with an 11’ width restriction. Use caution while driving through the work zone. Delays should be minimal.

Doniphan Drive
                   Nortex will be conducting concrete pavement on Doniphan/BNSF railway east of Sunland Park Drive.  The north bound driving lane may experience closures; traffic for motorist traveling north bound will be diverted through a one lane passage in order to allow traffic to flow around the project.
