The Department of Financial Services provides a wide range of services including budgeting, utility billing and customer service, procurement, paying vendors, receipting and investing public money and accounting.

Customer Service, Treasurer, Disbursements, and Purchasing staff have frequent contact with citizens of Las Cruces in various capacities (receiving payments, setting up new accounts for utility service, acquiring and paying for goods and services, etc.).

In addition to recording, analyzing, and monitoring financial activity in more than seventy separate funds required to account for the activities of the City, Budget and Accounting staff are responsible for financial reporting.

The Finance Department faces a challenging economic environment with opportunities for improving services provided to Las Cruces citizens, policy makers, and other City departments.
